budwig diet for cancer

The Budwig diet, created by Dr. Johanna Budwig, a German biochemist, is a specialized protocol that has been used for years to treat cancer as well as many other chronic diseases. The Budwig diet focuses on increasing the consumption of good fat using linol-acids (flaxseed oil, mainly), which are absent in the average western diet, and decreasing the intake of sugar and bad fat from processed foods.

Dr. Johanna Budwig

Dr. Budwig, known as Germany’s premier biochemist, held a Ph. D. in Natural science and had undergone training in medicine, pharmaceutical science, physics, botany and biology. In 1951, Budwig began her research on the importance of essential fatty acids (such as alpha linolenic acid) in the diet which was quickly opposed by German manufacturers of dietary fats such as margarine and hard shortening. She prevailed and published her work with great success both in the research of essential fatty acids as well as in the effective treatment of patients with cancer and other health conditions. She was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 7 times.

Budwig Cancer For Protocol

The Dr. Budwig protocol is centered around flaxseed oil and sulphorated milk proteins. Sulphorated oils are water-soluble and benefit oxygen and electron transfer across the cell membranes, including the mitochondria membranes.  Supplementing the diet with a mixture of raw, cold-pressed flax seed oil and low-fat cottage cheese (quark) is essential to gain the benefits of this diet. By combining these 2 important ingredients omega-3’s become more soluble in the body thus making it more effective in fighting disease. In addition to the flax seed- cottage cheese combination other key components include cutting out sugars, processed foods, and animal fats. A blender/electric mixer is needed for this diet.
